Need to know info & often asked questions
-
Do we offer cake tastings?
-
We don’t technically offer in-shop, sit-down cake tastings, but we do encourage stopping by during business hours to pick up items we’ve curated for the case that week. There’s always a great variety of cupcake flavors, macarons, and other desserts commonly included in custom orders. If there are certain flavors you’d like to try that aren’t in our case selection, we can create a take-home tasting box upon request.
-
-
Do we offer consultations?
-
Yes! Liv will arrange a 30-minute in-shop or phone consultation to go over the details and vision for your wedding desserts. An in-person meeting is recommended so you can both review colors, pictures, and overall aesthetic together.
-
-
If booking 8+ months out, we like to let couples know about potential changes in ingredient prices due to economic factors (details will be in the final contract). While we hope this won’t happen, if prices do increase, your initial invoice amount may also change and you will be notified beforehand.
-
What all does delivery & setup include?
-
Delivery and setup include packing all items safely into the vehicle, bringing backups, frosting, decorations, and more to ensure your desserts stay perfect from the moment we leave the bakery until we leave the venue.
-
-
Is Liv For Sweets responsible if something happens to the cake?
-
Once the cake leaves our hands (whether picked up or delivered) it’s no longer the responsibility of Liv For Sweets. We always make sure the cake is stable and properly constructed, whether it’s traveling in a car or set up on the dessert table. Always ensure the dessert table is away from high traffic areas, out of direct heat or sunlight (must be under 75 degrees), and placed on a sturdy table or cake stand.
-
-
Do you offer cake cutting services?
-
We don’t. We recommend asking your caterer or venue coordinator if they have someone experienced. Nine times out of ten, they do, which can save you money. I can also provide a cake-cutting guide upon request.
-
-
What should I have for the cake table?
-
A cake stand! Before choosing a cake stand, please confirm the width you’ll need with us (remember, the cake board is always larger than the actual cake, so don’t assume). The stand must be sturdy enough to support the cake. If you’re setting up a dessert table, you’ll also need plenty of stands, boards, and risers. Be sure to have any extra toppers, florals, or decorations ready for the cake or dessert tables, and include this information in your inquiry so Liv can take note.
-
-
Will I have to make a deposit?
-
Any custom order with Liv For Sweets requires a 50% deposit on the total amount before the cake is scheduled on our official calendar. The deposit can’t be made until the entire order is finalized. We offer a 30-day grace period to hold your date, but if we don’t hear from you or the order isn’t finalized within that time, your date will be released. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the event.
-
-
How far can we travel for delivery?
-
We prefer to keep deliveries within a 30–45 minute radius of the Pilot Mountain location, especially for multi-tiered cakes. That said, we’ve gone as far as Raleigh for a wedding order, though it was a smaller heart-shaped cake and dessert table. For deliveries outside our usual range, there’s an additional per-mile fee on top of the flat $140 delivery and setup rate.
-
-
Who provides what for the cake?
-
Liv For Sweets will provide the desserts listed on your invoice. They’ll also set up any extra desserts from other sources, along with decorations for the dessert table only. The customer needs to supply a designated dessert table with stands or risers, any agreed-upon toppers or florals, and ensure easy access to the event planner or coordinator if necessary.
-
-
Is there a fee is the wedding is postponed/cancelled after I've already put down a deposit?
-
There’s a two-week grace period for cancellations. If you cancel before making your final deposit, you’ll get your full initial deposit back. After the two weeks, if you’ve already paid in full, you’ll receive 75% back. If you need to postpone, we’re happy to work with you to reschedule in the best way possible. Hopefully, though, this situation never comes up!

Dessert Table
Over the past year, the trend has leaned toward a smaller cut cake paired with an elegant dessert table for guests. Opting for delivery and setup is highly recommended, allowing the bakers to design a stunning display and setting it up to look it's best. To enhance the look of your dessert table, consider using varying tier heights, along with a mix of trays and flat surfaces.
When filling out the form below, make sure to include the quantities, flavors, and details of the desserts you’re most interested in getting a quote for.

Liv's Suggestions
Planning your special day can be stressful, especially when deciding how many desserts to serve each guest. With experience working with hundreds of brides, Liv offers helpful suggestions on the most popular quantities and sweet treats for different guest counts.
Guest count 30-70:
For a smaller group, it’s best to keep things simple. A dessert table is the perfect option! Plan enough so your guests can enjoy about two treats each.
Here are two examples:
A small cut cake (either a 6" round cake or a Heart Cake) with a small dessert table. For example, 3 dozen cupcakes, 4 dozen mini cookies, and 2 dozen macarons.
or
A 2-tiered cake that serves approximately 80 servings. Keep in mind - do you want to keep a slice or the whole top tier for your anniversary?
Guest count 50-120:
Here we have 3 perfect examples of selected treats to serve your guests:
An 8" cake (round or larger heart cake), perfect for sharing with your bridal party/family, and a dessert table; 4 dozen cupcakes, 2 dozen chocolate covered strawberries, 4 dozen macarons, 4 dozen mini cookies.
or
A smaller 2-tiered cake serving approximately 60, and a smaller dessert table; 2 dozen cupcakes, 2 dozen mini cookies, 2 dozen macarons.
or
Focus only on the showstopping cake - 3-tiered cake serving approximately 130. Keep in mind - will you be saving the top as a traditional anniversary piece?
Guest count 100-150:
With a larger group, you’ve got plenty of options! Just make sure the dessert table is big enough to hold everything. Multi-height tiers and cake stands are great for showing off your sweets. If you go for a larger, tiered cake, keep in mind they can be heavy, so make sure the table is sturdy.
Here are two examples:
A smaller 2-tiered cake serving approximately 60, and a smaller dessert table; 4 dozen cupcakes, 3 dozen mini cookies, 2 dozen macarons.
or
Focus only on the showstopping cake - 3-tiered cake serving approximately 150. Keep in mind - will you be saving the top as a traditional anniversary piece?
Guest count: 150-200:
The largest group, the most opportunities for an array of desserts!
Here are two examples:
If you’re looking to stand out and impress your guests while keeping things simple and classic, our Table Cakes are a perfect choice. They’re long, elegant, and completely customizable. All you need is a sturdy, spacious table. Due to their length and delicate design, they’re set up on-site rather than transported pre-decorated. Starting at 3 feet, they can be made as long as you’d like!
or
Keep the cake smaller with a single cut cake or smaller tiered cake, with a huge dessert table! Choose enough dessert options to serve 12+ over your original guest count - just incase!
or
A 3-tiered cake would be perfect, and then add a smaller dessert selection; 2 dozen cupcakes and 2 dozen cookies
